Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating a Narthex account or using the Narthex service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are using Narthex on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.

2. The service

Narthex provides a hosted AI chat widget that church organizations may embed on their websites. The widget answers visitor questions based on knowledge content provided by the church. We provide the platform; you are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of the knowledge base content you configure.

3. Account and billing

• You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
• Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are listed on the Pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice.
• The 14-day free trial requires no payment method. After the trial, a subscription is required to continue.
• Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial-period refunds are issued.
• Exceeding your plan's conversation limit will not result in automatic overage charges. We will contact you to upgrade.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Narthex to:

• Provide false or misleading information to visitors
• Collect personal information from minors under 13
• Harass, deceive, or defraud website visitors
• Violate any applicable law or regulation
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the API

5. Content and data

You retain all rights to the knowledge base content you provide and the visitor data generated through your widget. By using Narthex, you grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate the service. We do not sell your data or use it to train AI models.

6. AI limitations

Narthex uses AI to generate responses. While we design the system to answer only from your provided knowledge, AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. You are responsible for reviewing your knowledge base and for any consequences of information provided to your visitors. Narthex is not a substitute for pastoral care, legal advice, or professional counseling.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance that causes temporary downtime and will give reasonable notice when planned. We are not liable for losses arising from service interruptions.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are delinquent on payment, with reasonable notice where practical.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Narthex's liability to you is limited to the fees paid in the 3 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
